Control tado° V3+ locally with Apple HomeKit

tado° V3+ joins Apple Home through the Internet Bridge you already have — no extra hub needed at home — and a change made there travels over your own network instead of waiting for tado°'s servers.

What you need

Add it

  1. Open Apple's Home app, tap +, then Add Accessory.
  2. Scan the HomeKit code on the side of the Internet Bridge.
  3. Every thermostat paired with the bridge appears. Give each one its room — the same room it has in the tado° app. Thermostats you pair with the bridge later appear by themselves.

You add the bridge, not each thermostat: they all reach Apple Home through it.

What “local” means here

Watch your schedules

A temperature set in Apple Home reaches tado° as a manual change. In the tado° app, each room has a setting for how long a manual change lasts. If it lasts until you cancel it, that room stops following its schedule after one change in the Home app — and the Home app can't tell you, because it doesn't know tado° exists. Check that setting for your rooms, or use an app that can hand a room back to its schedule.

Then use Tepi

Tepi reads your rooms from Apple Home and changes them the same local way, with every room on one screen. It knows about tado°: after a change it reads the thermostat back to check the change actually landed, and with your tado° account (optional) it hands a room — or the whole house — back to its tado° schedule in one tap. It also shows each V3+ room's temperature history and every device's battery.
